‘LDF Shop Box’ Launch

LDF (Lady Dane Farmhouse) residents have recently started a new adventure – The ‘LDF Shop Box’

The ‘LDF Shop Box’ is a new venture that enables and encourages residents to have responsibility and interact with others.  The residents have volunteered their time and are committed to daily shifts allocated to the ‘LDF Shop Box’. There is a photographic weekly rota on display for all to identify who is responsible on each day. When stock levels are low residents are responsible for choosing and purchasing new supplies.

The ‘LDF Shop Box’ contains all items that residents or staff may need on a day-to-day basis. This ranges from toiletries, sweets, celebration cards, stamps, pens and so much more. This is not a substitute for going out but enables the residents to enhance their skills, such as: mathematics, writing and social interaction whilst in their home.

The ‘LDF Shop Box’ builds the confidence of the residents in a social setting which then empowers them. The responsibility and skills required for each resident allocated to the ‘LDF Shop Box’ are incorporated into their individual targets and goals.

Each LDF resident is learning new skills whilst also maintaining their current skills. The residents achieve this by completing tasks such as checking stock, taking note of which sales have been made and what is popular, counting and handling the money. These skills will help with their independence using money inside and outside of the home.

Home Manager, Claire Dante said “The LDF Shop Box’ is an opportunity for residents or staff to purchase any items they may have forgotten that day. It has already made such a huge impact on the residents who are rising to the challenge. Residents wake up early, are dressed for the day and very excited to wear the ‘LDF Shop Box’ on duty lanyard.”

We are so excited to see how the resident skills grow from having the ‘LDF Shop Box’ and are keen to share many updates of what is happening next at LDF (Lady Dane Farmhouse).
