Volunteer of the Month – August

This month’s volunteer is the fantastic Ann Mckay! Ann has truly aided the Strode Park Foundation in more ways than one.

Ann has been volunteering just shy of two years; starting back in 2023. Ann has become such an integral part of our volunteer family and continues to support the foundation regularly.

Ann’s role as a volunteer is ‘Events Volunteer’. This includes front of house, raffle, box office and much more. She goes above and beyond with her efforts in volunteering. No job is too difficult for Ann.

We asked Ann what one word she would use to describe volunteering she said ‘laughter’. Ann gets such joy out of volunteering because the bond you build with other volunteers, staff, residents and the public is unmatched. It allows so much happiness to spread.

Ann decides to spend her free time helping our foundation because the ethos aligns with her own, she gets to give back to a community that has given so much to her. As well as visiting the homes over the years, the charity holds a special place in her heart.

Lauren Clark (Fundraising and Communications Officer) said: “Volunteers are at the heart and sole of this foundation and play such a vital role in it’s day to day running. Ann has shown such huge dedication and commitment to our cause. Thank you, Ann!”

Finally, we asked Ann what advice she would give to somebody wanting to start volunteering. “When volunteering you are part of a team. If your hands are empty and you see a job that needs doing, always offer to help”
