Volunteer of the Month – November
Volunteer of the Month November 2024...Jackie.
This month’s volunteer is the fantastic Ginette Dengate! Ginette has truly aided the Strode Park Foundation in more ways than one.
Ginette started volunteering back in January after retiring during Christmas 2023. Since Ginette has started volunteering, she has helped support us at events, but Ginette’s main role is the sorting shed and charity shop. Since starting her volunteering Ginette has become an integral volunteer and regularly supports the Foundation.
Ginette has previously volunteered during covid for Catching Lives and felt as though she needed to get back into some sort of volunteering. She saw an advertisement across our social media platforms and was very interested in learning more about the foundation and a charity more local to her.
We asked Ginette what her favourite thing about volunteering was and she said “My favourite thing about volunteering is the feeling that I am hopefully making a difference, enabling the success of the shop for the much-needed funds for Strode. I like meeting new people and have made some new friends”
Volunteering is the perfect way to give back any time but also the opportunity to meet new people and make friends for life just like Ginette has done here at the Strode Park Foundation.
In one word Ginette described volunteering as “rewarding”. You feel a sense of reward and satisfaction when volunteering as you see the difference you make to the people who live at the homes within the Strode Park Foundation, it is fantastic.
Finally, Ginette was asked what advice you would give to someone wanting to start volunteering for the Strode Park Foundation. “My advice would be to see what volunteering roles are available and start from there, hopefully growing in confidence to try more roles”
Thank you, Ginette, for all your continued hard work, we couldn’t provide the wonderful care that we do, without your support.
